Working in partnership with Construction Youth Trust

This week we’ve been proud to partner with Construction Youth Trust (CYT) to deliver a series of Construction Insight Sessions at two schools in Dagenham, as part of our ongoing social value programme with L&Q.

Aston Group employees remain committed to supporting our local schools and communities through our ongoing partnership with Construction Youth Trust.

As part of their Construction Insight Sessions, we’ve been proud to deliver engaging workshops on 'Building Opportunities' and 'Being a Professional'.

A special thank you to Dean Sherrin MCIPHE MIoL, Lisa Paul, Lisa Kelly, and especially Rachel for their dedication in organising and delivering these impactful sessions.

With the skills gap in the construction industry growing, it’s more important than ever to showcase the wide range of rewarding careers available and to inspire the next generation to see the incredible opportunities within our sector.

Our Mechanical Contracts Manager Dean Sherrin MCIPHE MIoL visited Robert Clack School, where he shared his career journey and role during a CV and Interview Skills session for 10 Year 10 students enrolled in Construction Youth Trust's KS4 Building Opportunities Programme.

That same day, our Gas Apprentice, Lisa Paul joined the 'Being a Professional' session at Jo Richardson School, where she left a lasting impression — particularly among the female students. Lisa shared how much she enjoyed the opportunity to showcase the capabilities of women in construction and the wide range of careers available in the industry.

A few days after, our Resident Liaison Officer, Lisa Kelly, also attended Jo Richardson School to support an Assessment Centre Activity. Wendy emailed us to say "Lisa! A massive thanks to you! You were fantastic this morning and gave the youngsters a real picture of your role and how regeneration works actually work!"

Lisa was delighted at the reception she received from the students, and came away feeling extremely rewarded and uplifted.

Many thanks for allowing me to join in. I had the best time meeting Wendy and her students . What beautiful and welcoming young adults. It was enlightening to see their eager participation within the workshop with all their great ideas. I was very impressed by the workshop and how important this is to them for their transition to help prepare them towards their working lives.”
