Wellbeing checks in Mental Health Awareness Month
Delivering wellbeing checks, Asian Women Chai & Chat and birthday cake at Priory Court Community Centre – health, connection and celebration!
Aston Group kicked off a wonderful day at Priory Court Community Centre yesterday with the second morning session of Asian Women Chair & Chat, where we met local ladies keen to make new friends, try cooking new recipes and even go on day trips! It was great to see the residents happily chatting together and signposting other fun activities for them to try. Our jewellery activity making bead necklaces and bracelets also went down a treat!
Later that day, Aston Group had the pleasure of welcoming two wonderful nurses from Nuffield Health’s Holly Hospital to the Threads Community Living Room session for free wellness checks.

Arranged in partnership with Danielle Defries from Holly Hospital as part of our ongoing commitment to community wellbeing, this was the first community drop in with more arranged for Age UK and Waltham Forest Community Hub over the next couple of months.
Residents were able to receive free blood pressure and BMI checks. It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved – the nurses were warm, friendly, and approachable, making the experience enjoyable for all.
The session was filled with creativity, conversation, and connection, as people of all ages joined in with the art materials we provided.
We also had a very special celebration — Jackie, one of our much-loved regulars, turned 85! The living room celebrated with delicious cake made by another resident and an enthusiastic rendition of Happy Birthday that brought smiles all around.
A huge thank you to Threads, and Nuffield Health for helping make this such a memorable day!
I look forward to returning for our #WearItGreen session on Thursday May 15th as part of #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
