Ohemaa's Apprenticeship journey into Accountancy at Aston Group
Six months in, and we're so proud of the progress Ohemaa has made since joining our Accounts team as an apprentice.
When choosing between university and an apprenticeship, the decision was clear for Ohemaa: hands-on experience, real-world learning and the chance to earn while she trains. Already partway through her AAT studies, she joined Aston Group drawn by our visible commitment to the local community.
Since then, she's become a key part of our Accounts department — processing invoices, reconciling supplier statements, supporting month-end tasks and discovering along the way that accountancy is as much about problem-solving as it is about numbers.
Working closely with Thelma, Kirsty and Muhammad, Ohemaa has built not just technical skills but real confidence. As she puts it: "the Accounts team have never made me feel uneasy to ask questions or seek guidance" — a culture of support she says has made all the difference.
Her advice to anyone considering an apprenticeship? "You don't need to have all the answers on the first day. Confidence comes from doing and consistency, not knowing everything beforehand."
Here's to the next chapter of Ohemaa's journey with us.
