Aston Group wins two energy efficiency awards in one night

EEA 2026

Some nights you remember for a long time and this was one of them.

Aston Group walked away from the Energy Efficiency Awards 2026 with not one, but two trophies — recognition of the work our teams, our partners and our clients have delivered together on some of the most meaningful projects we've ever been part of.

Regional Small Scale Project of the Year (under £250k)
Solar Schools — Enfield Council

Regional Council / Local Authority of the Year
SHDF Wave 2.2 & Wave 3 — London Borough of Waltham Forest

Solar Schools, Enfield — Bringing clean energy to the classroom

In the summer of 2025, Aston Group delivered a solar PV programme across three schools in Enfield — Westgrove Primary, Garfield Primary and Durants Pitfield School — in partnership with Enfield Council and funded through the Greater London Authority's Greener Schools Grant.

The project was delivered via the LHC Procurement Group N9 Retrofit and Decarbonisation Framework, on which Aston Group placed first for Solar PV and Electrical Energy Storage Systems, and was directly awarded as a result.

Working within the school summer holiday window, our teams installed 238 high-efficiency solar panels across the three sites — every one completed safely, on time and within budget.

The results speak for themselves:

  • 92,709 kWh of clean electricity generated per year
  • £54,568 saved annually across the three schools
  • 23 tonnes of CO₂ eliminated every year
  • £2 million+ in projected long-term savings

But what makes this project truly special goes beyond the numbers. Through hands-on sustainability presentations delivered to 864 pupils, we were able to bring the future to life in the classroom — showing the next generation what a greener world looks like in practice.

This award is a proud moment for everyone involved, from the initial planning and procurement right through to completion. Thank you to Enfield Council and the GLA for the opportunity to deliver something so impactful.

SHDF Wave 2.2 and Wave 3, Waltham Forest — A Partnership built on results

To be recognised for our work with the London Borough of Waltham Forest on the same night made the evening even more special.

From Wave 1 through to Wave 2.2 and now Wave 3 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, our partnership with Waltham Forest has been built on a shared vision: warmer homes, lower bills and greener communities for local residents. This award is a reflection of what a committed, long-term partnership between a local authority and a contractor can genuinely achieve — and we're incredibly proud of what we've delivered together.

None of this would be possible without the trust and support of our clients. Thank you to Enfield Council, the London Borough of Waltham Forest, LHC Procurement Group and every partner and funder involved in these programmes.

And to every single person at Aston Group who played a part in delivering this work — this is yours. Well done.
